New Day, New City

Our time in Beijing has now ended.  We are so thankful to have spent some time in this wonderful city, but are excited to move on to the next phase of our trip in Hefei.   This afternoon, we flew from Beijing to Hefei, which was about a 90 minute flight.  We were met at the airport by our guide for the week, Penny.  She answered lots of questions and gave us an itinerary for our next few days.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn here in Hefei.  So far, Hefei seems a little more like the China that I always envisioned.  It is very busy and the streets outside our hotel are crazy with traffic (bikes and cars).  We're on the 18th floor, and can still hear almost constant honking from the streets below.

Our thoughts tonight are on Kamea.  We are of course unbelievably excited to meet her tomorrow, but also have some nervous anxiety of how she will react to us and how deeply she will miss her life here and all that she has ever known.  In the morning, around 9:00, we will travel to the Civil Affairs office to meet her . . . finally.

  1. I am so excited for your family! Soak it all in. It is an amazing experience meeting your child. How old is Kamea? Our Kai is from Huianan City adopted summer of 2010 on his 4th birthday. What a great experience we've had with our "older" (in terms of adoption kiddos) child. Huianan kids are very special. I still see there dear faces from a year and a half ago. Thanks for sharing your journey, I can't wait to see you all together.
    Much love,
Jane, Marc, Kai and soon to be Jia Holland
